Authorities Launch Manhunt For Nurse Involved In Botched Abortion Attempt....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
A nurse, yet to be identified, in Oke-Owa within the Ijebu Ode region of Ogun State, is currently evading authorities after allegedly performing an abortion on Deborah Sokoya. According to a police source disclosed to PUNCH Metro, the abortion procedure failed, resulting in severe bleeding and subsequent hospitalization of Sokoya.
Reportedly, Sokoya had informed her partner, Peter Balogun, that she was visiting her elder sister, Mutiat Sokoya. Upon reaching Mutiat’s residence in the Iperin area of Ijebu-Ode, Deborah was allegedly coerced by her elder sister into undergoing the abortion procedure.
This led to uncontrollable bleeding, prompting Sokoya’s admission to a hospital for medical attention, as stated by the police.
When contacted regarding the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, revealed that preliminary investigations unveiled that Balogun, the boyfriend, had previously funded a separate abortion for the same girlfriend in 2023.
Both Mutiat and Balogun have been detained for questioning, according to Odutola.
She stated, “On March 20, 2024, around 6 pm, Peter Balogun approached the Igbeba Police Division concerning the termination of his unborn child. He alleged that his girlfriend visited her elder sister in Oke-Owa in Ijebu-Ode, where a nurse performed an abortion on her without their consent.”
“The abortion purportedly failed, resulting in severe bleeding and subsequent hospitalization. We have apprehended the sister who facilitated the abortion. Our preliminary investigations also revealed that the complainant had previously financed another abortion for the same girlfriend in September 2023. He is currently under interrogation.”
“Nevertheless, efforts are underway to capture the absconding nurse and other individuals involved in the abortion.
