Mogaji encouraged unmarried women in this age group to prioritize their desire for motherhood, even if it means having a child with a partner who may not be ready for marriage. She herself welcomed her first child at the age of 40, highlighting the importance of following one’s own path rather than conforming to societal expectations.

According to Mogaji, women over 35 often encounter challenges in finding suitable partners. She stated, “If you’re 35 or older and don’t have a husband but are involved with someone who isn’t ready for marriage and wants children, you should go ahead and have a child with him, even if he won’t accept responsibility for the child.”

She pointed out the stigma attached to older women seeking marriage, saying, “When women at this age look for a husband, they’re often deemed too old and perceived as unable to meet traditional expectations, like caring for a mother-in-law.”

Mogaji continued, “Even if a woman is fortunate enough to marry later, she may already be older when her child is growing up, while peers her age may already be grandmothers. When will she find a husband and become a grandmother if she keeps waiting?”

In her conclusion, she encouraged women who wish to have children to act on their desires: “If God blesses you with someone who cares for you and you can have children together, go for it. If you want a child but cannot find a partner, consider adoption.
