Bala Mohammed Exposes The Root Cause Of PDP’s Lingering Division

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum and current Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, suggested that the All Progressives Congress (APC) might be responsible for the ongoing crisis within the PDP.

Mohammed made this comment during a press conference following a meeting with forum members and key stakeholders, including the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Sunday night.

The pivotal meeting, held at the Bauchi State Government Lodge in Abuja, was attended by governors, former governors, and members of the National Working Committee to address issues affecting the party.

“We wouldn’t want to directly blame the APC for the crisis in the PDP, but they are likely the ones responsible. We’re not definitively saying they are,” Mohammed remarked while discussing the ongoing turmoil within the opposition party.

The meeting was attended by Governors Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa), Peter Mbah (Enugu), and Dauda Lawal (Zamfara). Also present were former Senate President Bukola Saraki, former Governors Babangida Muazu (Niger), Adamu Muazu (Bauchi), Aminu Waziri Tambuwal (Sokoto), Sule Lamido (Jigawa), and Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom).

The PDP has been grappling with leadership challenges since the 2023 presidential election campaign, beginning with the controversial decision to allocate the presidential ticket and National Chairmanship to the North.
