Prof. Yusuf Saidu, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research, Innovation, and Development at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, was tragically killed by bandits. According to a statement released today, June 24, the university authorities confirmed that Prof. Saidu was attacked and murdered while traveling from Sokoto to Kaduna.
“The death of Prof. Yusuf Saidu, the current Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research Innovation and Development at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto, occurred as he was on his way to Kaduna from Sokoto state. He was known for his integrity, dedication to his work, and courage.”
The university expressed deep sorrow over his passing, describing it as a significant loss. They offered prayers for his soul, hoping that Allah would grant him peace and forgiveness.
“This loss is deeply felt by all members of the University community and the wider academic community,” the university stated.
