Bandits operating in the Madaka Market area of Rafi Local Government Area, Niger State, have reportedly killed nine of the 50 people they abducted.

According to investigations by BUSHRADIOGIST, in addition to the 22 individuals previously reported killed during the initial attack, nine more abducted persons have now been confirmed dead.

The victims, predominantly women, were taken last Thursday and were being moved toward the Allawa forest area by the bandits when the killings occurred.

Isah Bawale Madaka, the district head of Madaka, revealed that seven people were killed in Kukoki village during the transit into the forest, with an additional two individuals losing their lives en route.

He explained, “While heading into the forest around Shiroro local government area of Niger State, they killed seven people in Kukoki village and two more on the way.”

Madaka further disclosed that over 30 bodies have been buried thus far, raising concerns about the motives behind the attacks as no ransom demands have been made by the bandits for the abducted individuals.

He emphasized his efforts over the past few days to monitor the bandits’ movements and ensure the safety of the abducted people.

The Emir of Kalgara, Alhaji Ahmed Attahiru Gunna, and Honorable Ismaila Modibbo, representing Rafi/Shiroro/Munya Federal Constituency, visited the injured victims to offer support and condolences.
