Governor Soludo also inaugurated a new vigilante group named ‘Operation Udo Ga-Achi,’ which will focus on intelligence gathering and support for the regular police force.
This development was outlined in a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, on Saturday.
The Governor explained that the law establishes a framework for community involvement and citizen participation in sustainable security and social re-engineering.
“Operation Udo Ga-Achi” is a specialized intervention force designed to complement traditional policing efforts, enhance intelligence gathering, reward whistleblowers, facilitate rapid response, and eliminate criminal elements across the state,” he stated.
He acknowledged that the security challenges in the state are multifaceted and require a comprehensive, sustainable approach.
Soludo reiterated his government’s commitment to eradicating criminality and making Anambra the safest state in Nigeria.
Additionally, the Governor announced plans to improve support for existing Correctional Centres and initiate the construction of new ones.
He urged communities to establish security governance structures promptly and encouraged each community to implement its own security and restoration programs.
Governor Soludo called on all citizens to support the state government’s efforts to ensure the safety and security of Anambra State.
