In a statement issued by the party’s Chairman, Onyemaechi Nwele, the PDP described Umahi’s remarks as deceptive and misleading, asserting that the party remains a vibrant and formidable opposition force in Ebonyi.

Nwele said, “I feel compelled to respond to recent remarks made by Senator Engr. David Nweze Umahi, former governor of Ebonyi State and current Minister of Works. Senator Umahi suggested that there is no opposition in the state, citing defections to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as the reason for the supposed lack of political resistance.”
