Battle Lines Drawn! PDP Exposes Umahi’s ‘No Opposition’ Comment As Propaganda
The Ebonyi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly criticized the Minister of Works, David Umahi, over his recent claim that there is no political opposition in the state.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a statement issued by the party’s Chairman, Onyemaechi Nwele, the PDP described Umahi’s remarks as deceptive and misleading, asserting that the party remains a vibrant and formidable opposition force in Ebonyi.
Nwele said, “I feel compelled to respond to recent remarks made by Senator Engr. David Nweze Umahi, former governor of Ebonyi State and current Minister of Works. Senator Umahi suggested that there is no opposition in the state, citing defections to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as the reason for the supposed lack of political resistance.”
“These statements are not only false but seem calculated to mislead the public. The PDP continues to be a strong and strategic opposition in Ebonyi, committed to reclaiming the governorship and securing a legislative majority through democratic means.”
The PDP chairman further alleged that Umahi’s comments were driven by personal political motives, particularly his desire to align with Governor Francis Nwifuru in preparation for the 2027 elections.
“The PDP will not be drawn into political gimmicks with Senator Umahi, who appears intent on mending fences with the governor—possibly in anticipation of political uncertainties at the federal level under President Tinubu. His actions suggest he is positioning himself for future political ambitions, including a potential return to the Senate,” Nwele added.
