Benue Community Of Former Governor Suswam Hit By Bandit Attack, 15 Dead
Bandits have reportedly killed over 15 residents in a recent attack on the Anyiin community, home to former Benue State Governor Gabriel Suswam, located in the Logo Local Government Area. The assault occurred on Wednesday around 6:32 PM, with the assailants firing indiscriminately.

Community leader Joseph Anawah confirmed to PUNCH that more than 20 heavily armed attackers carried out the three-hour operation, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries, with several residents still unaccounted for. Among the victims were Orihundu Ati, a retired primary school supervisor, and Zaki Mbatern, the son of the Kindred Head of Mbawuave.

Anawah noted that other casualties included the son of former Chief of Staff Tordoo Suswam and the son of Uyange Chembe, whose brother was the late District Head of Ukemberagya. He emphasized that this marks the second attack in October and urged the state government to work with federal authorities to improve security in the region.

The Special Adviser to the State Governor on Security and External Affairs, Alex Igbaya, confirmed the attack and stated that military units have been deployed to the area. As of the latest update, the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, Catherine Anene, has not released a statement regarding the incident.
