Betrayal Of The Highest Order!” – Bode George Slams Akpabio For Turning On His Political Benefactors

Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bode George, has taken a swipe at Senate President Godswill Akpabio for branding the PDP as “defunct.”

Akpabio, while speaking at the All Progressives Congress (APC) South-South stakeholders’ meeting in Benin City, Edo State on Saturday, ridiculed the PDP and the ADC-led opposition coalition, dismissing them as irrelevant ahead of the 2027 elections.

He said:

“I saw my brother, the former governor Okowa. Even though he was the vice-presidential candidate of the defunct PDP, he has now seen the light.
I don’t care what name they choose for their party — Adamu United, Ada-Obi, or even our old airline ADC. The South-South is speaking with one voice: we stand with Asiwaju, we stand with the APC.”

In reaction, Bode George, during an interview with The Punch, expressed disappointment, accusing Akpabio of showing ingratitude and disrespect toward the party that helped build his political career.

He reminded Akpabio that the PDP was responsible for his rise to power, noting that the party made him governor of Akwa Ibom State and facilitated his political growth.

“I wish him well, but who made him what he is today? Now he’s using his left hand to point at his father’s house,” George said.
“The PDP gave him a platform and unwavering support. Before making such reckless statements, he should reflect on his political beginnings.”

George further noted that the PDP also played a pivotal role in the rise of former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, and questioned Akpabio’s mockery of Okowa’s political decisions.

He added, “Nigerians know why Okowa is lying low. Just go and listen to what Adams Oshiomhole said.”

Akpabio served two terms as governor under the PDP, chaired the PDP Governors’ Forum, and entered the Senate in 2015 under the same platform before defecting to the APC in 2018, resigning as Senate Minority Leader in the process.
