Federal High Court in Lagos Sentences Bobrisky to Six Months in Jail for Naira AbuseControversial cross-dresser, Idris Olanrewaju Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has been sentenced to six months imprisonment without the option of a fine by Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos.

The judge emphasized that the verdict serves as a warning to others who engage in similar acts of abusing and defacing the Naira currency.

During the sentencing, Bobrisky confirmed his gender as male when questioned by the judge.

The court specified that the jail term would begin from March 24, 2024, the day of Bobrisky’s arrest.

Bobrisky had previously pleaded guilty to charges brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for abusing the Naira currency.

The sentencing, which was initially scheduled for last Thursday, was postponed due to a public holiday declared by the Federal government for Eid-l-fitri celebrations.

The charges against Bobrisky included instances where he tampered with Naira notes during social events, amounting to a total of N470,000, violating the Central Bank Act of 2007.
