Bode George Questions Atiku’s Loyalty Amid Coalition Drama Here Is Atiku Response
Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, has criticized the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, for his recent visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Atiku, accompanied by former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai and former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal, had paid a visit to Buhari at his residence in Kaduna. While Atiku later clarified that the visit was strictly for Sallah celebrations and not related to the proposed coalition of political parties, Bode George strongly disagreed.
In an exclusive interview, George condemned the visit, asserting that Atiku had no business engaging with Buhari, especially while pushing for a political merger. He questioned Atiku’s motives, pointing out that the former vice president had significantly benefited from the PDP and should not be entertaining talks of coalition without involving the party.
“They went to visit Baba Buhari. But is Buhari a member of the PDP?” George asked pointedly. “What relationship does Atiku and his team have with Buhari, aside from regional ties? You benefited from our party, and now you’re speaking of a mega party without discussing it within the PDP.”
He went on to describe the PDP as the only party in Nigeria with genuine national structures.
“The PDP is the only true political party in this country — the Iroko Tree, as we call it in Yoruba. Others should be coming to join us, not the other way around. We have a well-defined structure: national secretary, treasurer, women leader, youth leader, and structures at the state, zonal, and national levels.”
George further criticized the APC, saying it lacks internal democracy and structure, and is controlled by a single individual. He accused Atiku of pursuing personal interests under the guise of political alliance.
“What Atiku is doing is pure self-aggrandizement. What exactly is he looking for under Buhari? Is Buhari a PDP member?” George questioned.
