Bode George Review How Is Going To Leave PDP

Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, has firmly declared that, despite the ongoing turmoil within the opposition party, he will never abandon the PDP.

Speaking to journalists in Lagos on Sunday, George acknowledged the internal challenges but expressed confidence that they would be resolved. He emphasized that the PDP remains the only party in Nigeria that upholds true democratic values.

“I will never leave the PDP, never. Every other political party in this country is simply a mix of incompatible interests,” George stated. “They lack the foundational principles that define our party. Why would I leave something authentic for anything else? I’d rather retire from politics because I believe deeply in the PDP’s values.”

Using an old adage to reinforce his point, he said, “A rolling stone gathers no moss. If we face crises within the party, we will stay, address them, and move forward. We’re not going anywhere.”

Defections Won’t Weaken PDP

Addressing the defection of prominent figures like Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, George insisted that their exits have not weakened the PDP. He pointed out that even the late Chief Alex Ekwueme, a founding member of the party, was unable to secure the presidential ticket despite two attempts, illustrating that the PDP is not centered around individuals.

Nevertheless, he praised Ekwueme’s loyalty, highlighting how he remained committed to the party despite setbacks. “At no point did he try to destroy or discredit the party,” George remarked, commending Ekwueme’s steadfastness.
