This comes after Governor Eno dissolved his initial cabinet 20 months into his tenure. Speaking during a farewell dinner for the outgoing cabinet members on Friday night in Uyo, the Governor dismissed rumors about a purported list of nominees circulating, labeling it as fake and declaring that anyone resorting to influence-peddling has already disqualified themselves.
Eno emphasized his exclusive authority to select members of his new cabinet, stating that his phone would remain switched off until the official nominee list is submitted to the State House of Assembly next week for approval.
“Please, don’t ask anyone to contact me. My phone lines are already switched off, and they will stay that way until the names are sent to the House of Assembly next week,” Eno said.
He further warned, “The surest way to ensure someone does not make it to the new cabinet is to send me their name. Appointing members of the executive council is solely the Governor’s prerogative, and their loyalty will be to the Governor alone.”
Dismissing speculation, Eno clarified, “I have not finalized any names. The only person I might have shared thoughts with is my wife, but she is in Heaven.”
During the valedictory cabinet meeting, the outgoing members unanimously supported a motion to dissolve the cabinet, a decision the Governor finalized by dropping the gavel.
