In a broadcast to the people of the state, Zulum urged traditional rulers, clerics, and citizens to voluntarily observe a one-day fast on Monday, February 19, 2024, with the aim of praying for peace, prosperity, and overall development within the state.

Expressing his concern over the recent challenges faced by the citizens, especially the escalating costs of food items, Zulum acknowledged the burden on families and individuals. He assured the public that his government is taking decisive measures to address these issues.

Zulum outlined the government’s focus on revitalizing agriculture in the state, intending to boost food production and reduce dependency on food palliatives. The administration is actively investing in modern farming techniques, supporting local farmers, and creating incentives for agricultural innovation.

Addressing the rising costs of essential commodities, particularly grains and building materials, the governor emphasized that his administration is actively engaged with stakeholders in these sectors, taking significant steps to mitigate the challenges faced by citizens.

Furthermore, Zulum highlighted efforts to increase the distribution of palliatives, especially for residents in Maiduguri Metropolitan and Jere. He assured the public of continuous improvements in healthcare service delivery, education, and water supply.

Lamenting recent incidents of mines on major roads in the state, Zulum assured the public that the government is working tirelessly with security forces to eliminate these deadly devices and ensure the safety of all travelers within the state. He expressed belief that certain forces are behind the sabotage of progress, but the government is committed to identifying and dealing with the perpetrators accordingly.
