The Honourable Minister of Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh FNSE, on Day Two of his working visit to Borno State, embarked on a tour of key development projects executed by the North-East Development Commission (NEDC), in the company of the Commission’s Managing Director, Mohammed Goni Alkali, and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Mary Ada Ogbe.
The team began with an inspection of the 1,000-unit Ngwom Housing Estate, a landmark intervention providing permanent shelter for families previously displaced by insurgency. The minister described the estate as “a symbol of restored dignity and hope under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.”
Attention then shifted to the Jere Bowl Road Network, where the minister assessed work done across Phase I and II of the project. Phase I covers 22.5km, connecting Ngowom–Koshebe, Galadamari–Dusuman, and Gongulong–Zabarmari–Khaddamari. Phase II adds 12.6km of road infrastructure, including the Koshebe–Zabarmari and Dusman–Zabarmari routes.
“These roads are not just concrete stretches — they are the lifelines of communities previously disconnected and terrorized,” the minister noted, commending the NEDC, the contractors, and the local workforce.
The delegation also visited the new NEDC Borno State Office Complex — now 70% complete — as well as the site of the Commission’s proposed headquarters. They concluded the day with a tour of the NEDC’s new e-Mobility Charging Facility, a pioneering step towards sustainable transport using electric vehicles.
Minister Momoh praised the NEDC’s leadership for executing projects that directly restore lives, reconnect communities, and bring President Tinubu’s development vision to life across the North-East.
