One of the many things that captivates the people of Edo about the Labour Party gubernatorial candidate, beyond his impressive CV and charisma, is his exceptional ability to engage extensively with the masses. In recent days, Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata and his capable team have immersed themselves in multiple local governments across Benin City, passionately sharing his gubernatorial vision with residents predominantly residing in rural and underdeveloped areas of the state.
Addressing the Idiowere of Iguobazuwa and the local community members gathered at the engagement site, he emphasized the crucial role of empowering local government authorities under his administration for the overall welfare of the people, as they are closest to the grassroots.
“What I have emphasized is that you cannot sit in the Government House in Benin and claim to know all the needs of the entire state. First and foremost, we must empower our local government authorities. The Labour Party will not tolerate a situation where a local government chairman is controlled by the governor; they must have autonomy, they must function,” he asserted.
Akpata also met with the Bale Of Omorodion, discussing the challenges hindering the productivity of local government authorities and stressing that under his leadership, every local government chairman must reside within their respective LGAs.
He passionately reaffirmed his dedication to creating a thriving environment for all Edolites during his impactful engagement with residents of Omorodion and Ugbogui communities. During his campaign tour, the former NBA President openly sought guidance and prayers from the Odiowere of Ofunwegbe Community.
It is noteworthy that in recent weeks, Akpata and his dedicated team have traversed every corner of the state, garnering significant support from millions of Edolites by effectively communicating the Labour Party’s vision and values.
