BREAKING: 86 Victims Of Niger Tanker Explosion Laid To Rest
A catastrophic fuel tanker explosion at Dikko Junction in Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State has claimed 86 lives, according to the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Abdullahi Baba Arah, NSEMA’s Director General, confirmed on Sunday that 80 victims were interred in a mass grave at the Dikko Primary Health Care premises. Five others were released to their families for private burials, while one victim passed away from injuries at the healthcare center.
The incident occurred when a tanker transporting fuel from Kaduna to Gwagwalada overturned at the junction, spilling its contents. Despite warnings to stay clear, residents gathered to scoop the spilled fuel.
Tragically, the tanker exploded, causing widespread destruction, injuring 55 people, and damaging properties worth millions of naira.
The mass burial, organized by NSEMA in collaboration with Gurara local government officials and volunteers, lasted from the evening into the early hours of the next day.
The injured are currently receiving medical treatment, while authorities continue to assess the full scale of the disaster.
