He made the remarks in Abuja while speaking with journalists at the party’s national headquarters after attending the inaugural meeting of the newly constituted National Working Committee led by Nenadi Usman.
Otti stressed that there is no intention within the Labour Party to weaken its structure or step aside to favour any other political party in the upcoming elections. He described such claims as baseless and unrealistic.
According to him, both the Labour Party and the APC are independent political organisations that must continue to operate separately in order to uphold democratic principles. He argued that it would be illogical for a party that has spent years building its structure to abandon it for another.
Responding to questions, he said, “The APC will remain a political party, and the Labour Party will remain a political party. How can the Labour Party collapse its structure after building it over time? That will not happen.”
The governor also addressed reports of internal disagreements within the party, stating that the Labour Party is open to reconciliation and unity. He noted that the prolonged leadership dispute has been resolved and that members are now working together.
Otti added that some state chairmen who were previously aligned with opposing factions have already rejoined the current leadership, describing it as a sign that the party is gradually restoring unity and stability.
