In a statement shared on , Bashir acknowledged that his earlier remarks about the Vice President were inappropriate, describing them as reckless and expressing regret for the disrespectful language he used.

He emphasized that he holds the Vice President in high regard and has great respect for him. In his apology, he wrote: “I want to use this medium to personally apologize to the Vice-President of Nigeria, His Excellency Sir Kashim Shettima for my old post referring to his person as spineless. He is someone I greatly admire & respect.”

The apology comes weeks after he made a now-deleted post on March 6, 2026, in which he criticised Shettima and described him as lacking courage, while also urging him to take a stronger stance against alleged corruption within the Presidential Villa.
