Breaking: Bola Ahmed Tinubu Swears In Taiwo Oyedele As Minister Of State For Finance” 💼🇳🇬

The swearing-in followed Oyedele’s confirmation by the Nigerian Senate last week. The confirmation was announced by Senate President Godswill Akpabio after lawmakers approved the nominee through a voice vote during the Committee of the Whole session.

President Tinubu had earlier nominated Oyedele to serve as Minister of State for Finance, replacing Doris Uzoka-Anite. The development was confirmed in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Before his ministerial appointment, Oyedele, who hails from Ikaram in Akoko, Ondo State, chaired the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, where he played a key role in restructuring Nigeria’s tax system.

The 50-year-old economist, accountant, and public policy expert is an alumnus of Yaba College of Technology, where he earned a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy and Finance. He later obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University.

Oyedele has also completed executive programmes at the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science, and the Harvard Kennedy School.

He worked for 22 years at PwC, joining the firm in 2001 and rising to the position of Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader.

In addition, Oyedele serves as a professor at Babcock University in Ogun State and is a visiting scholar at the Lagos Business School.
