Breaking: Dangote Group Dismisses All Nigerian Employees Linked To PENGASSAN

The management of Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reportedly terminated the employment of all its Nigerian staff, less than 24 hours after nearly 90 percent of them joined the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN).

In a memo dated September 25, 2025, and signed by the Chief General Manager of Human Asset Management, Femi Adekunle, the refinery described the action as part of a “total re-organisation” exercise.

The notice claimed that the measure became necessary following “reported cases of sabotage” across various units of the plant.

Affected employees were instructed to return all company property to their respective line managers and secure exit clearance. The memo also directed the finance department to calculate outstanding benefits and entitlements for immediate payment in line with their employment terms.

“Management appreciates your contributions during your tenure and wishes you success in your future endeavors,” the notice, quoted by Daily Post, stated.

The mass termination comes amid an ongoing dispute between the refinery and PENGASSAN over staff unionisation, with many seeing the sackings as a direct fallout of the standoff. Labour leaders have yet to release an official response.
