These operatives, reportedly from the Ilorin Zonal office of the commission, embarked on the raid for the second consecutive day, allegedly to apprehend students suspected of involvement in fraudulent activities.

The targeted hostels, named Western and Safari, situated outside the university campus in Malete, Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State, became the focal points of the altercation between the students and the security operatives.

Resisting what they perceived as unjust arrests, the students vehemently opposed the EFCC’s actions, insisting that only those previously arrested on Wednesday should be taken away.

In response to the students’ resistance, the EFCC operatives, accompanied by officers from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the police, resorted to firing shots at the students, leading to injuries.

According to sources within the university, several students sustained injuries from the gunfire and teargas deployed by the security operatives. These injured students were promptly taken to nearby medical facilities for urgent treatment.

A video footage obtained by SaharaReporters captured the chaotic scene as armed security personnel discharged their weapons towards the students.

Following the raid, the EFCC reportedly detained over 20 students, alleging their involvement in cybercrimes, and subsequently transported them to their office in Ilorin.

This incident marks the continuation of a series of confrontations between the EFCC and the students of Kwara State University, as the anti-graft agency intensifies efforts to clamp down on alleged criminal activities among the student populace.

SaharaReporters had earlier reported a similar raid conducted by the EFCC on Wednesday, during which some students were apprehended and items such as cars, laptops, and mobile phones were confiscated.

Despite the release of some students after purported settlements, others remain in custody, facing allegations of more serious offenses.

As tensions escalate and allegations of misconduct surface, the fate of the detained students and the repercussions of the confrontations between law enforcement and the university community remain uncertain.

In a separate investigation conducted by Bushradiogist, it has been revealed that three students who were shot during the raid have tragically lost their lives. Additionally, several other students have sustained gunshot wounds, with some currently battling for their lives due to the severity of their injuries.
