Breaking: El-Rufai Takes Legal Action Shortly After Mother’s Funeral

Recall that the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) had earlier granted him release on compassionate grounds following the death of his mother, Hajiya Ummar El-Rufai, who passed away in Cairo, Egypt.

Following her burial, the former governor has now returned to court, where his bail application is expected to be heard.

The ICPC had previously arraigned him before Justice Rilwan M. Aikawa on a 10-count charge bordering on alleged conversion, possession of public property, and money laundering.

He was brought before the court after spending over a month in detention.

The court has adjourned proceedings to March 31, 2026, for the hearing of pending applications, including his bail request.
