Emphasizing the government’s commitment to addressing the security challenges, Wike pledged support to security agencies by providing them with the necessary resources to effectively combat insecurity.

The emergency meeting brought together key figures, including heads of security agencies in the FCT, high-ranking officials from the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), council chairmen, and traditional leaders. Wike sternly cautioned the area council chairmen to fulfill their responsibilities at the local level.

In recent weeks, the FCT has witnessed a surge in banditry, with criminals raiding communities and abducting residents from their homes. Tensions escalated when, in some instances, residents, including a 13-year-old secondary school student, lost their lives due to the failure to meet ransom payment deadlines.

The security meeting is a proactive step taken by the Minister to address the pressing issues and coordinate efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of FCT residents.
