Yes, your information is correct. I can confirm that Moses Jituboh is deceased. I just spoke with a community chief, and steps are currently being taken to carry out an autopsy to establish the cause of death,” the source said.
Jituboh, who served as former President Goodluck Jonathan’s ADC during his tenure as Governor of Bayelsa State and Vice President, continued to be a key member of Jonathan’s security team when he became President.
After Jonathan’s departure from office in 2015, Jituboh returned to active police service and was once rumored to be a candidate for the position of Inspector General of Police, though he was not selected.
The Zone 16 Police Command has expressed its condolences to Jituboh’s family and the people of Bayelsa State. In a statement released on Saturday, Zonal Public Relations Officer Emonena Gunn described the loss of the former Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) as a “great loss.”
The Assistant Inspector-General of Police for Zone 16, Adebola Hamzat, also extended his sympathies to the Jituboh family, acknowledging his significant contributions to both the police force and the nation.
“DIG Moses Ambakina Jituboh, mni, was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force on June 10, 1994, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police. His death is a great loss not only to his immediate family and Bayelsa State but also to the Nigeria Police Force and the country at large,” the statement read.
It continued, “His dedication to service, integrity, and contributions to the Nigeria Police Force will never be forgotten. Prior to his retirement in 2023, he served as DIG in charge of the Department of Research and Planning and also led the Department of Information & Communications Technology (ICT) at Force Headquarters.”
“The passing of DIG Moses Ambakina Jituboh is deeply mourned by his family, Bayelsa State, the Nigeria Police Force, and the entire nation,” the statement added.
