BREAKING: Federal Government Launches Investigation Into Jigawa Tanker ExplosionThe Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has announced the launch of an investigation into the recent tanker explosion in Jigawa State. This comes just 24 hours after a tanker carrying Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) exploded, resulting in over 150 deaths and numerous injuries.

The tragic incident occurred around midnight on Wednesday in Majia town, Taura Local Government Area, when the petrol tanker, traveling from Kano to Nguru in Yobe State, lost control and crashed, spilling its contents.

Mrs. Bimbo Oladeji, Director of Public Affairs and Family Assistance at NSIB, confirmed the investigation in a statement. She noted that the agency, which investigates serious incidents across all transportation modes, has dispatched a team to the accident site.

Oladeji explained that the investigators would evaluate the circumstances of the crash and explosion to identify contributing factors and develop safety recommendations to prevent similar incidents in the future.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families affected by this devastating accident. The NSIB is committed to uncovering the cause of the explosion and ensuring that safety lessons are learned,” she stated.

She also assured the public that updates on the investigation would be shared as the team collects and analyzes evidence. Additionally, she cautioned citizens about the dangers of scooping fuel from tanker accidents and urged them to steer clear of such sites.
