Breaking: FG Approves Purchase Of Medical Helicopter To Boost Emergency Care

President Bola Tinubu has approved the acquisition of an emergency medical helicopter aimed at enhancing the country’s response to health emergencies.

This was disclosed by the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Muhammad Ali Pate, who noted that discussions are already underway with Airbus to establish a national system linking both ground and air emergency medical services.

As part of the initiative, the minister recently held talks with Airbus representatives and visited a government-supported air ambulance facility in Lyon, where he inspected a medical emergency helicopter.

The proposed helicopter service is expected to support broader efforts by the Federal Government to strengthen the healthcare system, particularly in managing critical and time-sensitive medical situations.

The initiative also aligns with ongoing reforms and investments aimed at improving healthcare delivery across the country.

The government is working to upgrade the National Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance Scheme by expanding ambulance coverage in urban areas and improving response capabilities in rural communities.

The addition of air ambulance services is seen as a major step toward ensuring faster and more efficient medical response in emergencies nationwide.
