Orban joined the Serie A side last summer in search of more regular playing time, with both clubs including an option for Verona to make the move permanent.

However, according to German newspaper BILD, the Italian club have decided against triggering the clause as they prepare for a challenging summer, largely influenced by their struggle in the relegation battle.

The 23-year-old ends the season as Verona’s leading scorer, with seven goals and two assists in 28 league appearances. Despite a bright start, his form dipped significantly in the second half of the campaign, going nearly three months without scoring as the club slipped further down the table.

His loan spell was also marked by off-field controversy. After Verona’s 1-0 defeat to AC Milan, Orban was involved in an altercation with a fan outside the Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi.

Reports say the incident began when he declined a photo request while leaving the stadium. The supporter allegedly struck his vehicle, leading to a confrontation that escalated into a physical exchange. Orban later issued an apology for his involvement.

Former striker Gianmarco Zigoni criticised the incident, urging players to maintain composure even in difficult situations.

Orban, who remains under contract with Hoffenheim until 2029 following his €9 million move from Olympique Lyonnais in January 2025, is now expected to return to the Bundesliga club for pre-season, where his future will be reassessed ahead of the new campaign.
