The meeting was disclosed by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, though no official reason for the visit had been made public as of the time of reporting.
Meanwhile, Jonathan has also responded to recent comments by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar questioning his competence while in office.
During a live television interview, Atiku had suggested Jonathan made several mistakes as president due to inexperience, arguing that this affected his handling of national challenges.
Reacting at the 2025 Association of Retired Career Ambassadors of Nigeria awards ceremony in Abuja on Monday, Jonathan pushed back against the criticism, saying no governor or president can claim to have served without making mistakes.
He defended his record in office, insisting he did his best during his presidency.
Jonathan also rejected the suggestion that he was too young to lead, noting that he became president in 2010 at age 53 and left office in 2015 at 58.
He argued that mistakes are part of human leadership and questioned the notion that age alone determines competence in managing the affairs of a nation.
