In a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Tuesday in Abuja, the IGP instructed the Electoral Offences Desk officers, supervised by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Force Criminal Investigation Department, to initiate the investigation.
Egbetokun praised the support provided by other security operatives to the Nigeria Police Force during the elections, emphasizing the commendable commitment and diligence displayed by these security operatives in overseeing the electoral process.
The IGP noted the seamless nature of the electoral process in the three states, surpassing earlier threat assessments and anticipated challenges.
He expressed gratitude for the exceptional efforts of the security personnel in maintaining law and order, securing the electoral proceedings, and ensuring the citizens’ safety.
