The commission announced the exercise on Sunday via its official handle, inviting eligible Nigerians to apply online for various electoral roles needed for the poll.
Available positions include Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs), Presiding Officers (POs), Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs), Registration Area Centre (RAC) Managers, and technical support personnel known as RATECHs.
According to INEC, the recruitment portal opened on April 25, 2026, and applications will close on May 18, 2026. Interested applicants are expected to submit their forms through the commission’s designated recruitment portal.
INEC outlined the qualifications for each category. Applicants for Supervisory Presiding Officer must be public or civil servants on Grade Levels 10 to 14, or INEC staff within the same grade not already assigned to other responsibilities.
For Registration Area Centre Managers, eligible applicants must be school heads or staff of institutions and public facilities designated as RAC centres, with a minimum of Grade Level 07.
Those applying as Presiding Officers and Assistant Presiding Officers must be serving corps members, penultimate-year students in Nigerian tertiary institutions with basic computer skills, or employees of government agencies with at least an OND qualification and on Grade Levels 07 to 10. INEC staff on Grade Levels 07 and 08, as well as former corps members who served between 2023 and 2026, are also eligible.
For the RATECH category, applicants must possess an information technology background and be qualified ICT personnel within INEC who are not deployed to other duties.
The commission stressed that applicants must not be members of any political party or openly support any candidate. It also stated that applicants, except RATECH candidates, must reside in the state where they intend to work.
INEC further advised previous applicants reapplying to select the category that reflects their current status.
The recruitment forms part of preparations for the Ekiti governorship election, where incumbent Governor Biodun Oyebanji is seeking re-election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
