Breaking: Lawmakers Release ₦100 Million To Soothe Grieving Plateau Communities

In a gesture of compassion and support, the House of Representatives has provided a ₦100 million intervention fund to the Plateau State Government and select local government areas devastated by recent violent attacks.

A delegation of federal lawmakers, led by former Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Idris Wase, delivered the financial aid to Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang on behalf of Speaker Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas. The presentation occurred during a condolence visit to the state.

According to a statement released on Wednesday by Gyang Bere, Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Governor, the lawmakers’ visit was in response to the Speaker’s directive to console the affected communities and demonstrate solidarity.

The delegation included all members of the House of Representatives from Plateau State. Rt. Hon. Wase emphasized that the ₦100 million support package reflects the National Assembly’s continued commitment to alleviating the suffering caused by the recent violence.

The funds were allocated as follows:

– ₦50 million to the Plateau State Government
– ₦20 million to Bassa Local Government Area
– ₦20 million to Bokkos Local Government Area
– ₦10 million to Riyom Local Government Area

Governor Mutfwang expressed profound gratitude to the lawmakers, praising their swift action and shared concern for the people of Plateau. He also highlighted the need for improved infrastructure, particularly rural roads and communication networks, to better manage emergencies and ensure accessibility in crisis situations.
