The fire caused extensive damage to a two-bedroom apartment in Flat 5, Block 21. Initial investigations by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) indicated that an electrical surge in the children’s room triggered the fire.

The incident resulted in the total destruction of the room and substantial property damage estimated in the millions of naira. Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyitolu, Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, confirmed that the swift intervention of LASEMA’s Response Team (LRT), the Nigerian Police Force, and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service effectively contained and extinguished the fire before it could spread further.

Oke-Osanyitolu noted, “The coordinated efforts of LASEMA’s LRT, the NPF, and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service ensured the fire was quickly brought under control. Thankfully, there were no casualties or serious injuries.”

Following the incident, residents were given advice on the safe use of electrical appliances. By 5 a.m., emergency personnel remained on-site to ensure the situation was fully under control.
