As a result, the Assembly has instructed the House Clerk to deliver the impeachment notice to Governor Fubara.
It was reported that earlier on Monday morning, the Assembly removed the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Edison Ehie, presumably as a precursor to the impeachment proceedings against the governor.
Governor Fubara personally visited the Assembly complex on Monday, where he addressed his supporters, asserting that he had not committed any impeachable offense justifying the action against him.
It is worth noting that the political turmoil in the state is believed to stem from a deteriorated relationship between the governor and his political mentor, who happens to be the former governor of the state and the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
