The court has mandated a rerun to be conducted in five polling units (PUs) within the Makera State constituency.
The decision follows the earlier ruling by the Kaduna State Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal on September 30, 2023, which nullified Liman’s triumph in the Makera State constituency and called for a rerun in 42 polling units.
This legal action originated from a petition lodged by Solomon Katuka, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, challenging Liman’s victory under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Katuka’s petition alleged significant irregularities in Liman’s election, contending that he, not Liman, emerged as the actual winner of the March 18, 2023 House of Assembly Election in the Makera constituency.
Consequently, the Court of Appeal has specified a rerun in 37 PUs in Makera ward, two PUs in Barnawa ward, one PU in Kakuri Gwari ward, one PU in Television ward, and one PU in Kakuri Hausa ward, totaling 42 polling units.
