The Kano State Police Command issued a stern warning on Friday, cautioning against any planned protests or activities that might disturb the peace in the state ahead of the Supreme Court judgment on the governorship election. The state Commissioner of Police, Usaini Gumel, emphasized the commitment to maintaining peace, and he stated that the State Joint Security Committee was prepared to take strict measures against anyone violating the peace accord. Despite previous agreements, tension had been rising in the city, prompting the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to sign another peace accord. The police warned against any attempt to create chaos, emphasizing their determination to prevent disharmony and violence in the state. The NNPP and APC officials disagreed on the responsibility for past disturbances, with accusations exchanged between the two parties.
