The crew had presented a forged NNS Pathfinder oil approval, prompting the base to take swift action in apprehending those responsible.
Following a week-long intelligence-led operation, the suspects were tracked down and arrested in various locations. Among the apprehended individuals was an imposter who had been impersonating naval personnel to conduct unauthorized escort and security duties in events across Rivers State. During the operation, two camouflage uniforms and other military gear were recovered from the imposter’s residence.
Commodore Igbo emphasized the Navy’s commitment to combating crude oil theft and illegal bunkering, noting that the sustained efforts of NNS Pathfinder have limited the freedom of action for criminal elements engaged in economic sabotage. He pointed out that these criminals have resorted to new tactics, such as issuing forged documents, to facilitate their illegal bunkering activities.
