Breaking News: Sanusi Forced Out Of Kano Emirship Role By Court Ruling

Notably, Aminu Ado Bayero was deposed from the position last week, subsequent to the passing of the amended Kano Emirate Council bill into law and its subsequent assent by Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf.

In the latest directive on Tuesday, the Federal High Court mandated the police to ensure that all rights and privileges due to the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Bayero, are upheld.

Presiding judge Justice S. A. Amobeda, in issuing the ex parte order, emphasized its necessity for justice and the preservation of peace in Kano.

The order stipulates, “An interim injunction restraining the Respondents, their agents, servants, or any other person from engaging in activities such as inviting, arresting, detaining, threatening, intimidating, harassing, or raiding the Applicant, and infringing upon his rights or privileges pending the hearing and determination of the Originating Motion.”

“It further mandates a prohibition on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th Respondents, along with any others, from obstructing the applicant’s use of his official residence and palace at the Emir’s Palace, Kofar Kudu, as well as interfering with his entitlements and privileges as Emir of Kano State. Additionally, it prevents any illegal occupation of the palace until the hearing and determination of the originating summons.”

The case is scheduled for hearing on June 4, 2024
