On Friday, President Bola Tinubu reassured foreign investors of a commitment to efficient and predictable fund repatriation, along with a promise to streamline the tax system. The President made these statements during the reception of Letters of Credence from Ambassador Lorand Endreffy of Hungary, High Commissioner Christophe Bazivamo of Rwanda, and Ambassador Ivan Kholostenko of Ukraine at the State House.
Tinubu urged the ambassadors to focus on exploring new avenues for mutually beneficial trade relations in the country. He emphasized ongoing efforts to address concerns related to double taxation, aiming to create a business-friendly environment and reaffirming Nigeria as an inviting destination for investors.
Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, conveyed these developments in a statement titled ‘President Tinubu receives ambassadors, mandates them to focus on new investment and trade expansion.’
Addressing the issue of trapped funds, President Tinubu assured the Rwandan High Commissioner that the concerns were receiving attention, and measures were being taken to expedite the release of funds. Tinubu expressed a commitment to promoting democracy and good governance on the continent, emphasizing an open-door policy and the availability of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Chief of Staff.
The Rwandan High Commissioner reciprocated the commitment to enhancing bilateral relations with Nigeria, highlighting initiatives such as new visa policies and trade agreements.
During the ceremony, Tinubu encouraged the Hungarian Ambassador to explore partnership opportunities, particularly in agriculture, food security, and technology. He expressed gratitude for Hungary’s support for Nigerian students in the country and emphasized the vast potential for sustainable economic growth in Nigeria.
In response, the Hungarian Ambassador commended Tinubu for strategic decisions to reposition the Nigerian economy and suggested collaboration areas including education, agriculture, food security, security, and medical technology.
President Tinubu assured the Ukrainian Ambassador of Nigeria’s commitment to global peace and harmony, expressing support for good governance and democracy. Tinubu affirmed Nigeria’s solidarity with Ukraine and offered prayers for the nation.
