Breaking News : Tinubu Plans To Present Minimum Wage Bill To NASS In Coming Week

Naija News reported that President Tinubu held a meeting last Thursday with the leadership of organized labour, including the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC), regarding the minimum wage issue. The Tripartite Committee on the new National Minimum Wage had submitted differing proposals, with the government and private sector suggesting ₦62,000, while NLC and TUC insisted on ₦250,000.

President Tinubu, upon receiving the committee’s report, pledged to reconcile these figures through further discussions with stakeholders before presenting an executive bill to the National Assembly. Following the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris briefed State House correspondents, confirming that after the scheduled meeting with organized labour on Thursday, the President would forward the executive bill and propose an amendment to the 2024 budget to accommodate the new minimum wage and other adjustments.
