Breaking: NNPC Restores Escravos–Lagos Pipeline Following Devastating Explosion

The company stated that the pipeline has been completely repaired, rigorously tested, and returned to operation, emphasizing its commitment to ensuring energy security and environmental safety across the nation.
In a Tuesday statement, NNPC Limited’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Andy Odeh, announced that the damaged section has been successfully fixed and the pipeline is now fully operational.
“NNPC Limited is pleased to report the successful restoration of the Escravos–Lagos Pipeline System in Warri, Delta State,” Odeh said.
He noted that the company acted promptly after the explosion on December 10, 2025, activating emergency response protocols, implementing containment measures, and working closely with multidisciplinary teams to repair, pressure-test, and safely recommission the affected section.
The spokesperson added that the rapid restoration highlights NNPC’s capacity to respond effectively to incidents impacting critical national infrastructure.
Odeh credited the swift repairs to close collaboration with host communities, regulators, security agencies, and other stakeholders.
“Today, the pipeline is fully operational, demonstrating our resilience and unwavering commitment to energy security. This success was achieved thanks to the steadfast support of our host communities, the guidance of regulatory authorities, the vigilance of security agencies, and the dedication of our staff and partners,” he said.
He further emphasized that safety and environmental protection were maintained as top priorities throughout the repair process.
“Together, we transformed a challenging situation into a success story, restoring operations in record time while upholding the highest standards of safety and environmental responsibility,” Odeh added.
