In a statement released on Saturday, Soneye expressed his appreciation to colleagues for their support throughout his 20-month tenure, describing his time at the company as a significant privilege.

He said it was an “honour” to contribute to the transformation journey of the national oil company and emphasized his pride in being part of its evolution.

Soneye explained that stepping down would allow him to focus on family and attend to pressing personal commitments.

“I wish to inform you that I have stepped aside from my role as Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd. This decision will allow me to devote more time to my family and attend to personal responsibilities that now require my closer presence,” he wrote.

Reflecting on his time at NNPCL, he added, “It has been a profound honour to serve both the Company and our country… I am deeply grateful for the trust reposed in me, the opportunities granted, and the incredible professionals I’ve worked with.”
