Breaking: Popular Radio Station Goes Off-Air Following Governor’s Drastic Order

The directive was issued during an expanded All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus meeting at the Government House and communicated through a statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim.

According to Ibrahim, Governor Bago instructed both the State Commissioner of Police and the Commissioner for Homeland Security, Brigadier General Bello Abdullahi Mohammed (Rtd), to shut down the radio station immediately.

The statement further revealed that the Governor ordered the confiscation of the station’s broadcasting license and called for the profiling of its owner.
“Governor Bago accused the station’s owner of inciting the public against the government and directed that the station’s license be revoked,” Ibrahim stated. “He also emphasized that security personnel should seal the station and investigate the owner, alleging the platform promotes violence.”

In response, the Director of Operations of Badeggi FM, Abubakar Shuaib, appealed to the governor to follow due process.
He urged Bago to file a complaint with the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), which monitors all programming and would be in a position to determine any violations.

Shuaib said, “The appropriate step is for the governor to petition the NBC for an investigation. The NBC already has our programming logs and monitors our broadcasts regularly. If there is any breach of its code, they are in the best position to determine that. We are committed to promoting accountability and public interest—not inciting unrest. We hold no bias against any individual or government.”
