Breaking: Presidency Slams Ndume, Urges Him To Report Intelligence To Military Authorities

Ndume had earlier raised concerns that the entire North-East region could fall to terrorists if the military is not properly equipped.

In response on Tuesday, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, stated that the federal government is already providing adequate support to the armed forces to combat terrorism.

He noted that both the military and the civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) are actively conducting operations aimed at securing the North-East and protecting citizens across the country.

Onanuga further urged the veteran senator to relay any credible intelligence to the military rather than making public statements that could cause panic.

He said, “I don’t know what purpose this alarm by Senator Ali Ndume serves. If he has intelligence that terrorists are planning to attack the entire North East, as a long-serving senator, he should pass such information to the military instead of creating unnecessary fear.

“The Tinubu administration is committed to equipping the armed forces adequately. We are not stingy in this regard. Beyond engaging partners like the US, UK, France, and Turkey, we are also working closely with our Sahel neighbours.

“Our armed forces, alongside the civilian JTF, are doing everything possible in this guerrilla war against terrorists to ensure the safety of the North-East and all Nigerians.”
