Trump, however, declined to disclose the nature of the gift, telling reporters at the Oval Office that it arrived earlier in the day and carried significant value.
“They gave us a present, and it arrived today. It was a very big present, worth a tremendous amount of money. I won’t tell you what it is, but it was a very important gift,” he said.
According to him, the item is connected to oil and gas and relates to “the flow” in the Strait of Hormuz.
He added that the gesture showed Iran’s negotiators were serious about honoring commitments.
“They gave it to us as promised, which tells me we’re dealing with the right people. Only they could have done it,” Trump stated.
Trump also described recent developments in Iran as resembling “regime change,” noting shifts in leadership style and approach.
“We have, in a sense, regime change. The leadership is very different from those we initially dealt with, who created many of these problems,” he said.
His remarks followed a softer stance on earlier threats to target Iran’s power facilities, after suggesting that ongoing discussions between Washington and Tehran were now “productive.”
Iran has restricted oil movement through the Strait of Hormuz, sparking global energy concerns. However, Iranian officials have clarified that the restrictions apply only to vessels linked to the United States and Israel.
