Breaking: Rivers Sole Administrator Ibas May Address The State In Emergency Broadcast

Sources close to the development, who spoke with The Nation, revealed that Ibas is expected to address the state in a broadcast after holding consultations with key stakeholders, including security chiefs and representatives of oil companies. The broadcast will follow these meetings, which aim to provide a comprehensive overview of the security situation in Rivers.

One source said, “A state broadcast is likely, but it will come after his discussions with security officials to assess the current security landscape.”

Given the critical role oil plays in the state and Nigeria’s economy, Ibas is also expected to engage with oil companies to evaluate any damages and identify areas of concern, with the goal of developing strategies to prevent sabotage.

With extensive security, administrative, and diplomatic experience, including his tenure as the former Chief of the Naval Staff and the High Commissioner to Ghana, Ibas is seen as well-equipped to address the complexities of Rivers State’s ongoing crisis.
