Breaking: Sanwo-Olu Faces Backlash Over Reported Reinstatement Of Ajetunmobi After #EndSARS Comments

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reportedly reinstated Wale Ajetunmobi, his Senior Special Assistant on Print Media.

Ajetunmobi’s return comes just two months after his suspension over allegations of misrepresenting facts related to the 2020 #EndSARS protests.

The suspension was initially announced in a statement by Gboyega Akosile, the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity. The controversy arose from comments Ajetunmobi made on his personal X account, which allegedly contradicted the official narrative of the protests.

In the suspension announcement, Akosile described Ajetunmobi’s remarks as a misrepresentation of facts and underscored the need for accuracy and professionalism in public communication. The Lagos State Government also distanced itself from Ajetunmobi’s post.

However, according to a source who spoke with Sahara Reporters on Tuesday, members of the governor’s inner circle lobbied for Ajetunmobi’s reinstatement. The source revealed that Ajetunmobi was advised to maintain a low profile and exercise caution with his social media posts.

“Ajetunmobi is back in the office. They told him to lay low and be careful about what he posts online. Some of the governor’s close associates supported his return because they hold him in high regard,” the source disclosed.

Attempts to obtain a reaction from Akosile regarding Ajetunmobi’s reported reinstatement were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to inquiries on the matter.
