Breaking: Senator Natasha Detained At Airport — Tension Soars In Abuja

Suspended Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, was briefly detained by immigration officers at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Thursday morning while attempting to board a flight to the United Kingdom.

According to a report by Premium Times, Natasha was stopped at the departure terminal and informed that her name had been placed on a watch list at the request of the National Assembly leadership. She was traveling with her husband to attend her stepson’s graduation ceremony in the UK when the incident occurred.

A family member confirmed the development, expressing shock at the treatment. “She was told the National Assembly had requested she be treated as a flight risk and placed on a watch list. It’s confusing because there is no court order restricting her movement, and she has never missed any of her court appearances,” the relative said.

Eyewitnesses reported that the Senator protested the restriction and was seen making multiple phone calls to top immigration and government officials. After nearly an hour of back and forth, her passport was eventually stamped, and she was allowed to board her British Airways flight.

This incident follows ongoing tensions between Natasha and the Senate leadership. She has been challenging her suspension from the Senate, which came after she publicly protested a change in her seating position. Additionally, she has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment.
