Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, welcomed Sani and 49 other political heavyweights into the ruling party during a mega rally at Murtala Square on Saturday.
Addressing the new members, Sani assured them that they would enjoy equal rights and privileges as long-standing APC members, emphasizing that there was no distinction between recent defectors and those who had been in the party for a decade.
He encouraged the defectors to mobilize their supporters, reaffirming that the APC remains open to welcoming more members. According to him, the party’s widespread acceptance is a result of its just leadership at both state and federal levels.
“Someone who joined APC today and one who has been a foundation member for ten years are of the same status. They will enjoy the same rights and privileges,” he stated.
Sani further highlighted that politics differs from governance, pledging that his administration would be fair to all, regardless of political affiliation, in line with the oath of office.
Governor Uba Sani also acknowledged that leaders are not infallible and urged party members to offer constructive criticism when necessary, as leaders will ultimately be held accountable for their stewardship.
Among the notable figures who defected to the APC were former Kaduna State Governor Alhaji Muktar Ramalan-Yero, Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi, NNPP’s 2023 gubernatorial candidate Alhaji Sani Sha’aban, former Senator Danjuma Laah (who represented Zone Three under PDP), former PDP National Organizing Secretary Alhaji Abubakar Mustapha, and former Nigerian envoy to South Korea, Ambassador Sule Buba.
