Breaking: Tinted Glass Crackdown Paused As IGP Grants Nigerians More Time

The Nigeria Police Force has officially extended the grace period for motorists to obtain the Tinted Glass Permit for their vehicles.

In a statement released on Saturday, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, announced that the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has approved the extension of the enforcement deadline to August 12, 2025.

The decision, according to the statement, was made in response to public concerns and feedback surrounding the reactivation of the digital application process for the permit.

Adejobi urged Nigerians to take advantage of the extension, noting that efforts are ongoing to make the application process more efficient and accessible.

“In keeping with our dedication to transparent, inclusive, and citizen-driven policing, the Nigeria Police Force acknowledges the voices of the public,” the statement read. “These voices have been vital in shaping the ongoing adjustments to ensure the permit application process is easy to use, safe, and open to everyone.”

The extension is also aimed at allowing time for further system upgrades, ensuring that no applicant is unfairly affected by technical challenges or procedural delays.

He further stated that improvements are being made to both in-person and online application systems, with a focus on faster verification, streamlined steps, and the elimination of unnecessary bottlenecks.

Citizens were reminded that the official platform for applying or renewing their Tinted Glass Permit remains www.possap.gov.ng, and any incidents of extortion or unauthorized charges should be reported to the police via the dedicated helpline: 09169967000.

The Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to public safety, digital transformation, and enhanced service delivery, while appreciating the patience and support of Nigerians throughout the reform process.
